telemystisparkles✯ Gideon was the first character in the AU to become a monster, and he is the only one who was not transformed by falling into the river! He was turned the old fashioned way by some of Gravity Falls' local vampires several days before Dipper and the others discovered fluvius cantatis river. And yes, it was entirely an effort to impress Mabel. Slow clap.
✯ New advantages are incredibly increased strength, speed (ESPECIALLY speed - he’s a quick little thing now, despite being chubby!), reflexes, the ability to jump REALLY high and then sort of float back down, more powerful hearing and vastly improved eyesight! He wore contacts before and doesn't need them anymore, although his vision is far better at night than it is during the day.
✯ As a vampire is he very much undead; his skin has no coloration anymore and is now gray-ish white, his internal organs are no longer functioning and he is terribly cold to the touch. Essentially, he’s like a corpse.
✯ To turn into a bat and back, all he really has to do is concentrate on changing form. While in bat form, he is unable speak, only make cute squeaky bat noises. While with a lot of effort he can keep himself in the air, he’s not very good at flying, because well… fat bat can't fly.
✯ He doesn't actually sparkle, he’s just added lots of diamond-like glitter to his suit, and made the studs on his cape extra shiny.
✯ He burns up in the sun, basically just fries like being sunburned times 1000, so if he's awake during the day he only goes out when it's overcast or with a giant parasol. Non-natural light doesn't hurt at all, it's only sunlight, although he still prefers dark places.
✯ He's weak to the traditional things such as garlic, crosses, and holy water, and also can't enter churches. He found this out the first Sunday after getting turned.
✯ Usually he sleeps every day from sun up until sundown. He does sleep in a coffin; in fact how he had to break it to his parents that he turned himself into a vampire was after they caught him stealing one.
✯ While a little surprised initially, Buddy Gleeful accepts Gideon's new vampire status almost immediately and continues to adore and spoil him as he always does. Although after Bud himself catches the "Fluvius Flu", Gideon makes him stay home and refuses to be seen with him in public. His mother fainted after realizing her son had become an actual vampire, and now fears and avoids him even more than before. She always knew something like this would happen.
✯ If he doesn't semi-regularly drink blood, he’ll begin to develop bloodlust, where the craving will completely distract him and drive him crazy. If he were to starve himself for too long, he’d go feral, attacking the nearest person and sucking them dry. Any kind of blood is fine, although human is the most satisfying. Eventually his dad ends up making a deal with the blood bank.
✯ He can still eat normal food, but it’s basically optional and isn't a substitute for drinking blood. What he usually does is squeeze his blood packets onto an ice cream sundae.
✯ Typically he’ll hiss when trying to be threatening, but also sometimes does it reflexively when scared or surprised, such as suddenly turning all the lights on in a dark room he’s sitting in.
✯ He is unable to turn anyone else into a vampire, because it takes conscious effort to do so and a long time to acquire that ability.
✯ Unsurprisingly he is unfathomably annoyed by Mabel's transformation, not because vampires have any kind of particular weakness to water… at least not that he knows. He actually doesn't have any idea whether or not he’d float or sink in water, because he… never learned to swim. WELP.
✯ The absolute worst thing though is the fact he doesn't have a reflection, so he can't use mirrors anymore. It's a nightmare.
✯ But aside from all that, he deals with the situation fairly well! He’s actually added the vampire thing to his psychic shtick at the Tent of Telepathy, where the performances are only after sundown, now advertising himself as "Lil' Gideon: The World’s Youngest and Most Adorable Psychic Vampire!" The tourists are of course convinced it’s just make-up and a cute gimmick, and the pre-teen girls and Twilight Moms love it.
